Premium independent games publisher Playstack today announces it has achieved a new milestone for breakthrough hit, Balatro, with two million unit sales recorded worldwide.
Developed by LocalThunk, Balatro continues its momentum as Playstack’s fastest-selling game to date. The news comes less than six months after the Balatro launched in February, when the poker-inspired game reached one million sales in its first month.
Playstack will continue cultivating interest and excitement around Balatro with a major new gameplay update in 2025 and beyond.
Since its launch in February, Balatro has impressed critics and fans alike, earning a coveted “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on gaming marketplace Steam.
Playstack’s commercial results have gone from strength to strength in 2024, with the survival crafting game Abiotic Factor releasing in Steam Early Access in May and selling 600,000 units to date, and earning an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam.
Harvey Elliott, Chief Executive Officer, Playstack, commented:
“We are moved by the sustained success that both Balatro and Abiotic Factor have achieved, and we cannot be more thankful for the commitment and passion from both games’ incredible developers. Breaking sales records with two different titles in a row demonstrates how focused Playstack continues to be.”
